The Society for Labour
and Development’s mission is to help build a
democratic society free from exploitation and
discrimination. The SLD engages in its work through
a collaborative and networking method, using a
variety of strategies, cross-cutting issues and
sectors, with a focus on the rights of workers and
marginalised people.
The Community Organiser
(Female) will work with workers and their families,
primarily with women family members on different
issues related to workers and their rights.
She will need to work closely with the Community
Organiser(s) and other field based team members.
Work responsibilities:-
•Conduct and assist in field research - survey
taking and interviews with women workers
•Help in developing strategies for involving
families of workers in the work of SLD.
•Develop proactive linkages at community level -
mainly with female family members of workers,
community leaders, trade union workers, activists
etc., as part of a process to further the cause of
workers.
•Assist in cultural and social mapping process of
workers communities.
•Assist in logistics and operations for SLD's
programmes in Gurgaon. workshops, cultural
programmes, legal interventions, studies, local
interactions and educational initiatives.
•Assist in the creation of new media products
Skills
and Qualifications:-
- Languages: Hindi and
English.
- Extrovert with excellent verbal communication
skills.
- Language skills : Excellent skills in Hindi and
good / working knowledge of English.
- Computer skills: Basic computer literacy - MS
Word, Excel, Internet browsing and Email.
- Interest and commitment to workers’ rights and
social justice issues.
- An interest, knowledge and/or understanding of the
cultures of Jharkhand, Bihar and/or UP would
definitely be an added advantage.
